The vision for SGI Cat Allies began when we three cat guardians, Helen Gore and Cathy Buell and June Crawford, started working together to help the community cats and humans live together in harmony on the beautiful St George Island in Franklin County Florida. We saw a need for and had a vision to create an organization, SGI Cat Allies, to guide us on that journey. Since that November 2013 inception, we have organized and mobilized, helping nearly 200 cats in our first year and becoming registered with the IRS as an official 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. We continue to work diligently to fulfill our mission to become the best TNVR organization we can dream of being. Please join us!

She also is a licensed U.S.C.G. Charter Boat Captain, golf teaching professional and historic home restoration specialist, living in Apalachicola, Florida. A lifelong animal lover, Cathy has been actively rescuing/fostering and re-homing domestic animals since childhood. She lives with 3 rescued dogs, and manages a colony of neutered/vaccinated community cats.
Mary Ann Durrer, Secretary/Treasurer
Mary Ann is experienced as an accountant. She began her career in public accounting, has worked recently for a nonprofit entity and for her husband’s building contractor company. She also serves as Treasurer for a local nonprofit, Franklin Needs.
Helen is a retired critical care nurse and retired Peace Corps volunteer, and she worked as a real estate agent in Franklin County. Her work in the field as a realtor exposed her to the plight of feral cats in the County. She has rescued, fostered, and re-homed animals for many years, and recently managed a colony of eight feral cats which have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated.
June owns and operates a busy, rewarding and successful pet sitting business in Aiken SC, Aiken Pet Sitters. June has been coming to SGI for years and has always wanted to help the community cat population she has come to know and love on this beautiful island. June grew up with pets and a deep love of all animals, and has never been long without one or more pets at home. Today she is crazy in love with her small pride of rescued to forever-home yellow cats; one she rescued and adopted in Aiken and two yellow cat Gents who came to her from our TNR efforts on SGI.
